How to Level Up Your Oral Care Routine

1. Visit the Dentist

It doesn’t matter how often you brush your teeth if you don’t get a good foundation to build from. Visit a dentist like http://www.keepmismile.com/ and get any restorative or cosmetic work done that you need.

You’ll be able to concentrate on keeping your smile healthy at home. The dentist can also check you for any indications of other issues with your mouth or jaw.

2. Go Electric

The best way to clean your teeth is with a good-quality electric toothbrush. There are many different brands out there, so it is easy to find one that you like. Once you’ve started cleaning your teeth with an electric toothbrush, you’ll never go back to a manual one because your teeth feel so clean.

Manual toothbrushes remove more plaque and keep gums healthier, which reduces the chances of tooth decay and gum disease. Most models have a timer function that tells you how long to spend on each section of your mouth so you can be sure you’re brushing for the recommended period.

Don’t let the cost put you off, though. There are many models that don’t cost a ton. Over the lifetime of the product, it ends up working out as a good value.

3. Upgrade Your Flossing Game

Flossing is essential for excellent oral health. It removes debris in between your teeth, keeps your gums healthy, and helps you maintain fresh breath. In addition to regular dental floss, you can buy air flossers or water flossers, which can help you really get in between your teeth. These flossers are battery-operated devices that shoot a jet of water or air into the gaps between your teeth.

4. Use Toothpaste and Mouthwash at the Right Times

A good toothpaste with fluoride is all that most people need to keep their teeth clean and healthy. There are specific brands that are good for sensitive teeth, whitening, and protecting enamel.

Did you know that you shouldn’t wash your mouth out after you’ve brushed your teeth? You’ll remove the fluoride from the tooth surface. Instead, when you’ve finished brushing, spit out the excess, and don’t rinse.

There’s a right time to use mouthwash too. Wait at least thirty minutes after you’ve brushed your teeth before using mouthwash.

Oral Care Routine

Keeping a healthy smile needs a great at-home oral care routine. Regular visits to the dentist and utilizing the latest tools and products can keep your routine as effective as possible and your smile looking great.

Your functional strength will improve vastly, and your body will thank you for it.

4. Eat a Healthy Snack

Whether you eat a handful of grapes, a few carrot sticks, or half an avocado, eating something healthy will give you a much-needed boost of vitamins and minerals. Plus, it will stop you from feeling the need to binge on something less healthy later.

What Motivates People To Take Better Care of Their Teeth?

Have you ever struggled to look after your teeth? Do you find that brushing and flossing are annoying? In situations like this, it can help to identify what motivates other people to take better care of their teeth.

Why People Want to Take Better Care of Their Teeth

They’ve Felt Dental Pain in the Past and Want to Avoid it as Much as Possible

Dental pain can be one of the most uncomfortable and stressful experiences you’ll ever have. Since the pain affects nerves around your head, it can lead to headaches, earaches, and pain in the face. Once you’ve felt real dental pain, it’s hard to ignore the possibility of it happening again.

After experiencing dental pain, many people will take better care of their teeth and make regular trips to the dentist for a checkup. Dental checkups allow them to identify potential issues before they cause problems, and it leads to improved oral health.

While some people avoid the problem by taking painkillers, dental health problems will only get worse over time. Many of the issues are irreversible, so there’s no going back once you’ve lost a tooth unless you’re willing to pay for a cosmetic procedure.

They’re Trying to Avoid Paying Huge Amounts of Money for Dental Care

Dental care isn’t free. Even with insurance or a plan to subsidize the costs, you’re going to pay out of pocket. Cosmetic dentistry is beneficial, but it’s expensive and requires extensive planning and many procedures.

Even regular dental procedures can be expensive if you don’t take care of your teeth. Cleaning, extractions, and root canals are all common, but they’re not free. You’ll end up paying a lot of money if you only visit the dentist every couple of years. Address your dental problems as soon as possible so that you end up paying less over time.

They Want to Maintain a Picture-Perfect Smile

Maintaining a picture-perfect smile is one of the most common motivators for people to take care of their teeth. It is surprisingly common to see people hesitate to smile because they don’t want others to see their teeth. If you want a beautiful smile, then you need to start taking better care of your teeth.

You don’t need to focus so much on things like whitening. Instead, it’s all about brushing, flossing, and regular checkups to ensure there are no cavities or other problematic issues. While it can be hard to get your teeth back into a beautiful state, it’s worth it to have more confidence in your smile.

Motivation to Take Better Care of Their Teeth

People find the motivation to take better care of their teeth in a few different ways. No matter the reason, taking care of your oral health is essential to living your best life.

Are You Really Taking Care Of Your Health, Though?

You might have decided some time back that you will take better care of your health for whatever reason. This could have been for fitness goals you want to reach or because you have a medical condition to manage. There are plenty of other reasons that you could have done this, but the reason ultimately doesn’t matter. The point is, you need to know whether or not you are really taking care of your health.

Are You Taking Care Of Your Health?

The Unexpected Areas

If you aren’t taking care of the unexpected areas of your health, then you aren’t taking care of your health as a whole. These unexpected areas will include things like your dental health, your hearing health, your mental health and so much more. If you know that you are not taking these things seriously, rethink the way you look after your health. For example, you should be seeing a dentist every six months, and if you’re not, you are risking serious issues.

When it comes to area health areas, such as hearing health, most people don’t have regular checkups unless they already have a diagnosed issue. So, it may be tricky to figure when is the right time to book your first appointment with an audiologist. But the truth is that you should not neglect little issues that bug you. So, for example, when it comes to hearing health, you may have noticed a persistent ringing in your ears or perhaps you’ve realized that you are turning up the TV volume more than usual. These could be signs that it’s time for a first appointment.

The Right Frame Of Mind

If you’re not in the right frame of mind right now, then you can’t take care of your health properly. People often forget that mental health is an important aspect and should be taken just as seriously.

To properly look after yourself, you must believe that you can reach your goals. You also must have a positive mental attitude in all things. While working on your body, you must continue working on your mind.

Motivation Is Key

The last thing that we’re going to mention is your motivation. Motivation is key to any success, and if you’re not motivated, you will fall flat and your health will suffer. If you have no motivation, you can’t enhance your health, so you’ve got to find some sooner rather than later.

Taking Care Of Your Health

This helpful information will help you see whether or not you are really taking care of your health. The problem that many people have is that they think they are taking care of themselves, when in reality, they aren’t. Take a closer look to see if you really are doing what you think you are. Leave a comment and let me know what you will start doing differently in your life!

Top 4 Mental Health Improvement Tips for New Moms

Research shows that about 85% of women experience mental health issues like postpartum depression, blues, and psychosis. This disturbing statistic reiterates the need for moms to prioritize their mental wellness. Besides, mental wellness helps you handle your responsibilities as a new mom effectively. If you want to work on your mental health improvement, these tips will help you get started.

Tips for Mental Health Improvement

1. Join a Support Group for Moms

The transition into motherhood can be overwhelming, making it imperative to join a support group for moms. These groups create a sense of belonging while mitigating stress, loneliness, and isolation. Groups for moms also provide the platform to openly express your feelings and enable you to cope with motherhood challenges.

You will learn helpful tips on how to navigate parenthood with ease. You may join an in-person support group, where you learn about body image, child health, coping strategies, and more. Another option is to opt for online groups if you can’t attend in-person meetings.

2. Avoid Unhealthy Comparisons

According to Psychologist Erika Ames, women often seek affirmation from others, especially when they become mothers. However, unhealthy comparisons may set in, causing you to feel jealous or inadequate. What’s worse, it can lead to depression, loneliness, and poor well-being if it’s not immediately addressed. Fortunately, you can take steps to escape the trap of unhealthy comparisons.

For instance, you may focus on your parenting values and determine why you make certain decisions. It’s also prudent to be extra kind to yourself and appreciate your uniqueness. By all means, remind yourself daily that you are enough and watch your confidence levels improve.

3. Practice Self-Care

New moms are prone to caregiver burnout, which is the state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion. Therefore, it’s imperative to practice self-care to avoid this condition. Besides, it helps you maintain your self-worth while reducing your mental health risks.

Go to bed early to make up for your frequent night wakes, or ask your friends or partner to watch the baby while you rest. It’s also best to eat a balanced diet, avoid junk food and stay hydrated all day. By all means, exercise regularly, and socialize with other people to improve your emotional and mental state. Furthermore, you may leverage supplements for building your mind and preventing depression and anxiety.

4. Reduce Social Media Time

Social media can be helpful or detrimental, depending on how it’s utilized. While it’s easier to access online support groups, it can also create an unrealistic picture of parenting. According to Senior Lecturer Joanne Mayoh, social media showcases the perfect pregnancy, causing anxiety for moms who can’t meet these standards.

What’s more, people tend to portray babies as accessories rather than children, which might not sit well for some moms. Hence, it’s advisable to reduce your social media time and stick with motherhood realities. It’s also best to stick with accounts that portray the real motherhood essence and mute the ones that cause inadequacy.

Mental Health Improvement

Transitioning into motherhood might be overwhelming, but you can navigate through it once you know the right strategies to adopt. These mental health improvement tips can help boost your well-being as you go through this exciting transition.

2 Simple Ways to Teach Your Kids Good Dental Habits While They’re Still Young

It’s surprisingly common for adults to be anxious about going to the dentist. They don’t like the idea of visiting a dental practice because of bad experiences in the past. Plus, it can also be surprisingly expensive because of all the potential procedures involved. Many of us feel stressed when a dentist is mentioned, but we all know the importance of going anyway. If you teach your kids good dental habits while they are still young, you can alleviate that problem for them later in life.

You want to ensure that your children don’t grow up with the same negative experiences with their dentist. It’s important to teach them about good oral health.

How to Teach Your Kids Good Dental Habits

1. Introduce Your Child To Their Dentist and Visit Regularly

It can be less stressful to visit the dentist if you have a positive relationship with them that goes beyond patient and doctor. Dentists are incredibly friendly and many of them have trained specifically to help reduce patient stress. Some dentists are even trained in dealing with children and soothing their concerns.

It goes without saying that modern dentistry has drastically evolved compared to the old days. Dentists today are more likely to form friendly relationships with their patients to make the experience less stressful.

So if possible, try and introduce your child to their dentist as early as possible. This will make them more comfortable around their dentist, and regular visits should reinforce these positive thoughts. Remind your child that their dentist is there to help them and should be seen in a positive light instead of being a scary figure.

2. Educating Children on What Could Happen if They don’t Have Good Dental Habits

Telling your kids what could happen if they don’t take care of their teeth can seem like a threat. With their first set of teeth, they can feel some of the pain that comes with neglecting your oral health.

Kids get a 2nd chance after their baby teeth fall out. But, it’s important to teach your kids good dental habits so they don’t make mistakes with their adult teeth.

Whether they experience a cracked tooth or have bad breath, teaching your kids about the consequences of bad dental habits can often encourage them to be a little more diligent about their teeth. A great way to convince them to develop better dental habits is to lead by example.

If you don’t brush your teeth and floss often then they’re not going to listen to you. When possible, brush your teeth with your child to teach them how it’s done. This will reinforce the importance of brushing and convince them that it’s a good decision.

Teach Your Kids Good Dental Habits

If you teach your kids good dental habits early on, you will set them up for good oral health later. These tips are straightforward and easy, so they are sure to help.

Leave a comment and let me know if you have any ideas to teach your kids good dental habits! I’d love to hear your tips!

5 Straightforward Ways To Put Your Mind At Ease Every Day

You’ve lived long enough to have experienced your fair share of negative instances. Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, as you probably know by now. You get a lot of bad and a lot of good in a very balanced way. If you’re not prepared for this kind of roller coaster, then you’re going to be on edge. People who are anxious and shaky with regard to most things in life are that way because their minds are trained and prepared for what’s to come. Luckily, there are ways to put your mind at ease and help you enjoy life. Whether you look for remedies such as Delta 8 Gummies that have CBD to help relax you, yoga or something else, there are many options you can try. As well as this, it’s important to train your mind.

We can train our minds to be in a much more positive space, and we can prepare our mental states for anything that comes our way. Here are just a few ways to do it.

How To Put Your Mind At Ease

1. Stay Active

Being on the move helps you in a few different ways. When you are busy with other activities, you won’t have time or space in your mind to ruminate. Plus, moving and exercising helps the brain as it releases endorphins, allowing you to feel natural positivity and pleasure.

2. Keep Energized

Similar to exercise, having energy will make you feel better both mentally and physically. When you lack energy, you might be tempted to sit around and do nothing productive. You can fall into a trap of thinking negatively and miserably, too, as your brain isn’t as satisfied as it should be.

Eat enough calories for the day, drink lots of water, and get enough rest. Life will be SO much easier that way. You’ll be in a much better place to attack all kinds of problems.

3. Relax With Medicinal Means

Things like CBD have been instrumental in making people feel more at ease. You can learn more here as this site will tell you all about the benefits as well as the specifics of how it’s utilized. CBD oil can reduce anxiety while putting the body at ease.

4. Go To Work On Your Home Regularly

You must fix any personal problems you have before you can really go after external issues. Your home plays a large role in your mental well-being. If your home isn’t in great shape, then you’ll be carrying a burden around wherever you go.

You’ll know if your home is calling out for some love. If it is, then don’t be afraid to change things up. Even the smallest decluttering task can put you in a better headspace.

5. View Every Instance As Positive

This can be difficult if you’ve never done it before, but it’s something that will save your life. If you have a more optimistic outlook on life, even the worst days will be seen as good experiences. If you think positively about future instances, you’ll likely end up with a positive outcome.

Our brains tend to attract what they feel or think about. Try implementing some positive affirmations in your life and see what a difference it makes.

Put Your Mind At Ease

You can never predict what will happen next in life, but you can live on edge because of it. Focus on staying positive and live in the present as you work to put your mind at ease. As you use these tips, you will notice an improvement in your overall well-being.

What are some of the ways you put your mind at ease? Leave a comment and let me know!

5 Ways To Naturally Purify The Air In Your Home

The air in your home can easily become contaminated with irritants such as pollen, dust, mold spores, and pet dander. These irritants can be particularly harmful if you have an allergy and asthma. Luckily, there are a few ways to naturally purify the air in your home to keep it healthy.

***This post contains affiliate links. It costs you nothing extra, but I may receive a small commission.***

How to Naturally Purify The Air In Your Home

1. Houseplants

Growing plants in your home could help to purify the air. While plants aren’t as effective at removing large particles like dust, they can be effective at getting rid of microscopic toxins like VOCs. Plants also produce oxygen, helping to make the air in your home fresher.

Plants can neutralize odors while releasing fresh, natural scents. Some houseplants are more effective at purifying the air than others – check out this list of air purifying plants for some good examples.

2. HEPA Filters

Most standard air purifiers work by sucking in air and trapping particles in a filter known as a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter. After the contaminants have been removed by the filter, clean air is then pumped back out. You’ll have to regularly replace these filters once they get dirty. You can find these filters in tabletop devices, floor-standing devices, and even in some HVAC systems.

3. Ultraviolet light

UV air purifiers use ultraviolet light to remove harmful pathogens from the air. They are effective at neutralizing bacteria, viruses, and fungi. So, if you want to prevent the spread of illness or tackle a mold problem, a UV air purifier could be a great solution. You can buy these air purifiers as standalone devices, but they can sometimes be incorporated into HVAC systems.

4. Activated Carbon

Activated carbon is a good solution against smoke and bad odors. Unlike many air fresheners that cover up smells, activated carbon is scentless and simply works by neutralizing these smells.

You can buy activated carbon bags containing bamboo charcoal to place around your home. They are particularly effective for removing smells from enclosed areas like a musty shoe cupboard or a smelly fridge. Activated carbon is sometimes incorporated into electric purifier devices with HEPA filters, helping to remove particles and remove odors.

5. Electrostatic precipitators

Electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) are another form of air purifier worth looking into. These devices use an electrostatic charge that causes solid particles like dust and pollen to get stuck to a metal plate inside the device. It’s a bit like how your hair might get stuck to a static balloon.

The metal plate (known as an electrode) traps the particles while activated. Once you turn the ESP off, these particles fall off into a collection filter, which can be emptied or replaced. ESPs are effective at removing just about anything from dust to bacteria but are less effective at reducing odors.

Humidifiers For Your Health And Home

You can also consider adding humidifiers to your home so that you can breathe better. Check out this infographic to learn more.

Guest Post: 4 Things to Do When Someone You Know has Breast Cancer

*Things to Do When Someone You Know has Breast Cancer is a guest post written by Mischa Bergeron from mischabergeron.com. You can also find her on Twitter.*

One in four women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Two years ago I was one.

Without the love and support of my family and friends I am not sure how I would have managed
to get through the dark days. Surprisingly, many people do not have support or their loved ones
don’t show up the way mine did. It can be tough to know what to say or do and many times what
seems like a slight might be someone just trying to be respectful and step back to wait for the
patient to re-emerge.

There are a few things people can do upon hearing the dreadful news that will lift the spirits of
breast cancer patients.

Show Solidarity

Show you care by showing solidarity. It can be anything from getting t-shirts with the person’s
name and a cute slogan like “you got this and we got you” #teamkate. If that isn’t an option,
things as simple as wearing a pink ribbon band, learning about breast cancer or offering to take
the person to the doctor all show support that can be incredibly helpful when days are tough.

Show Kindness

One thing that can be difficult for anyone going through treatment is preparing meals.
Organizing a meal drop off through apps that allow people to sign up for delivery is a great idea
and shows kindness.

Show Thoughtfulness

Being thoughtful about how a person might want to communicate with family and friends can
include organizing a Zoom call, regular check-ins or a quick text message can show you are
thinking of the person.

Show Generosity

Many people are not aware how high the cost of treatment can run even with the best health
insurance plans. Many plans only pay 80 percent of the total cost of chemotherapy. For an
average patient needing chemo that can run in the hundred thousands meaning your friend or
family could be on the hook for thousands of dollars in copays. Setting up a fundraiser is often
helpful to offset the costs. Knowing the cost might spur you and others to donate when seeing a
request online.

While breast cancer treatment is improving health outcomes faster than ever before, supporting
friends and family going through treatment can be as easy as showing up in the smallest of
ways and that can go a long way.

5 Simple Changes you can Make in Your Life to Be Healthier

If you want to be healthier or make some positive changes in your life, it is easy to do. It only requires you to make a few simple changes, and you’ll be glad you make the effort. By implementing these tips, you will find how to be healthier in your life.

How to Be Healthier

1. Fill 50% of Your Plate with Non-Starchy Vegetables

Vegetables are separated into two categories, including “starchy” and “non-starchy”. Starchy vegetables have more calories than their non-starchy alternatives. Non-starchy options include spinach and other dark-green vegetables, cauliflower, and carrots.

If you fill your plate with non-starchy vegetables, you will find that you have a good way to improve your diet. These are all low in calories, but they are packed with nutrients. On top of this, they are packed full of fiber and water.

2. Use a Smaller Plate

Believe it or not, the size of your plate can affect the amount you eat. Scientists have found that those who eat from large bowls tend to eat 56% more food when compared to those who use smaller bowls. Eating from a smaller plate is a great way to trick your brain into eating less. Using this tip can be useful if you feel like your portions are far too big.

3. Swap Refined Carbs

Refined carbs, commonly referred to as empty carbs, are processed and stripped of all their nutrients. Empty carbs mean that they are adding more calories to your diet, but you aren’t getting any nutritional benefits from them.

Examples of refined carbs can include white bread, white rice, or even white flour. If you have a diet that is rich in refined carbs, then you may find that you are at risk of experiencing chronic diseases, including Type 2 diabetes. Choosing unprocessed carbs such as whole wheat flour or brown rice allows you to eat delicious, filling foods without empty calories.

4. Avoid Temptation

Sometimes, it is tempting to have a drink during the weekend or eat at a restaurant when you feel like you have nothing in the fridge. That being said, you should try to avoid this, if possible.

By eating well during the week and then failing during the weekend, it will affect you more than you initially realize. To get around this, it’s a good idea to invest in some zero percent alcohol, as well as making healthier versions of takeout meals you love at home.

5. Add Some Fruit

Fruit is a fantastic way for you to add some color to your plate and flavor to your oats in the morning. Fruit is loaded with vitamins and minerals, not to mention that it can help you get your five-a-day with ease, too. You can blend your fruit up into a smoothie, too, making it a healthy treat.

 Be Healthier

Be Healthier

Improving your health doesn’t have to be hard. Use this simple tips to be healthier, and you will quickly notice the difference.
